Michael "Sam" Quinn
Sam Quinn was born and raised in Narberth. He attended St. Margarets School, Archbishop John Carroll High School, Bloomsburg University and Widener Law School.
Sam lives in Narberth with his wife Mary Jane and daughter Mary Pat. He has served on Narberth Borough Council since 2007. Sam worked at the American Family Market on Haverford Avenue in Narberth from elementary school through college. The store has been an anchor of Narberth's "Main Street" since the 1960's and is still owned and operated by Angelo and Paul Bovo.
Sam has been working in law since 1987. While working full time as a paralegal, he attended evening classes at Widener Law School and became an attorney in 1999. He is admitted to practice in the federal and state courts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Prior to entering private practice, he worked as a judicial extern for the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and clerked in the criminal and civil divisions of the New Jersey Superior Court.
In his private law practice, Sam has represented police officers, municipalities, individuals and corporations. He currently manages the Narberth, Pennsylvania office of Ounan & Quinn where he concentrates his practice in real estate transactions and mass tort defense.
Sam is a committed volunteer in Narberth of many years. In addition to his 5 years on Borough Council, Sam has served on the boards of the Narberth Library, Narberth Fire Department and Narberth War Memorial Committees. His is also active in youth sports in Narberth as a volunteer CYO coach.
Sam's qualifications and experience are unique among all current members and announced candidates for Narberth Borough Council. He is the only attorney among this group and his experience representing municipalities and law enforcement brings a valuable legal perspective to council. His extensive service to Narberth organizations and business, along with 7 years as a Narberth business owner make him acutely aware of the effect of Council decision making on the lives of citizens, property owners and business owners.
Bob Weisbord
From early in my memory, I have been inspired by the unique, strong network of volunteers that have been serving Narberth--maintaining our war memorial, responding to fires, organizing athletic activities, cleaning up parks, sponsoring entertainment, parades, and promoting good citizenship. When I learned that two of our long serving Council members would be retiring, I was honored to be asked to run by several former council members and other neighbors.
Some of you may know me from my service on the Narberth Planning Commission, Narberth Greens, the Narberth Flower and Vegetable Exchange, the Narberth Havurah, the Narberth Food Bank, the Narberth Civic Association, and the Friends of Sabine Park. You may not know that I also have experience running a small client-centered business, was a graduate school administrator, and an architectural planner.
Because I was born in Merion, just two blocks south of Narberth, and I have always recognized that this community is special. Narberth families share a unique bond due to the town's volunteer government and its diverse mixture of church, school, playgrounds, library, volunteer activities, and other institutions. My wife Dawn and I feel privileged that we are able to raise our children, John (3) and Sylvie (6), in Narberth, where our family can participate in a strong community life. This opportunity to serve on Borough Council gives us a chance to make a difference to the future and share with our children the tradition to service that so many of our neighbors are committed to continuing.
As a life-long Democrat, I have worked as a volunteer in many elections, and for the past six years I have served as the first elected Democratic judge of elections in the Narberth-1 voting district. If elected to office, I will dedicate myself to keeping the Borough government open to every voice and point of view. In addition, I support the Borough's ongoing initiatives to lower our town's carbon emissions. I will work towards policies that reduce the impact of motor vehicles and will make the Borough a safer place for bicycle riders and walkers. I will continue my efforts to strengthen the social cohesion among families, volunteer organizations, and local businesses. I will take a stand for an autonomous Narberth, continued first-rate town services, our volunteer community, and the prudent use of our tax dollars.
Please vote for me on May 17. If you elect me to Council, you can count on me to conscientiously represent all Narberth residents.

Who am I?
I grew up outside of Buffalo in a small town called Williamsville, New York, and like Narberth, it is a small town with a main street. I was in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, and became an Eagle Scout. I went to University of Maryland - College Park where I started in Engineering, but changed majors to Communications. After college I worked at an environmental consulting firm (doing Federal and State government work) in Arlington, Virginia while living in Washington DC. A few years later, I decided to go back to school, and earned a Masters in Computer and Information Technology at the University of Pennsylvania while living in Philadelphia. In 2007, I started working as a Software Developer at Susquehanna International Group in Bala-Cynwyd, and my wife and I moved to Narberth. I joined the Narberth Civic Association a few years ago, and about a year ago I was elected to the office of Secretary. Just this year my wife and I welcomed our first child, Samuel, into the world.
Why Narberth?
My aunt and uncle have lived in Narberth for years and I have great memories of visiting them every year. I've always loved walking around town, watching my cousins grow up, sledding, and walking their dogs in and around Narbrook Park. I believe that Narberth's main assets are a walkable community, a vibrant downtown, a heterogeneous mix of housing, and easy accessibility to Philadelphia. One of my checklist items when choosing a place to live is: "Can I walk to breakfast?" Narberth certainly passes that test.
What about the Issues?
As Councilperson, I would bring an analytical point of view to Borough finances and ordinances. I have both a liberal arts degree as well as a technical degree, so I'm well-rounded, and also have a variety of interests. Ive always been interested in architecture and historical preservation, so I am especially concerned with preserving the character and diverse housing stock of Narberth. I am also interested in encouraging retail businesses downtown, so my family and I will have more places to walk to. As a new father, I am of course concerned about our parks, playgrounds, sidewalks, library, and what schools our kids go to.
Why elect me?
Running for council is a labor of love. Like many Narberth residents, I want to volunteer for a worthy organization. That's another thing about Narberth that makes it unique -- all the volunteer organizations, like the Fire Company, the Civic Association, etc. Im not running for fame, or even compensation. I just want to make sure that Narberth keeps being Narberth. I love living here, and I want to make sure it remains a great place to live.
